In Soult’s Mouvement des Troupes, #249, we find the following to d’Erlon recorded:

To inform him that Comte Lobau is ordered to go with the 6th army Corps to Avesnes on the 13th and that General Reille must concentrate his army Corps near Maubeuge and that he keeps the 1st Corps that he commands below Valenciennes on the 13th of this month in order for him to be able to begin a march three hours after having received the order, to stop all communication with the border unless the people crossing come to our side, they will be closely surveilled and interrogated.

Le prévenir de l’arrivée du 6e corps à Avesnes, et que M. le Cte Reille doit concentrer son corps d’armée près Maubeuge. De son côté, il tiendra aussi le 1er corps concentré sous Valenciennes, afin qu’il soit prêt à le mettre en marche, dans la direction qui lui sera donnée trois heures après en avoir reçu l’ordre, et qu’il ait la totalité de son monde, infanterie, cavalerie, artillerie, ambulance, etc.
D’ailleurs, il laissera jusque là ses postes sur la ligne, interrompra la communication, ainsi qu’il est dit, veillera aux subsistances, aux travaux des places, et à ce que la troupe soit pourvu de l’avance en pain et en riz qui a été ordonnée.
